A few years ago, after finishing our undergraduate studies, we decided to pursue higher education abroad. This journey was full of challenges and put a significant financial strain on our families. It was incredibly difficult and humbling to rely on our parents for financial support. Despite their unwavering support, being from middle-class families meant they had to take out loans to fund our education. We spent nearly half of our parents' yearly income just on applications and consultancy fees. Just when we thought we were set, the visa process became another hurdle, costing an additional fee. Unfortunately, we ended up dealing with a scammer, which was a devastating blow.
